Sit down, and prepared to be shocked...
The book that has been torqued for centuries to justify the oppression of women and children--the Holy Bible--gives men no such authority or instruction. Patriarchy was supposed to have been replaced by egalitarianism in 30 AD; Jesus defied rabbis and taught women Torah. Jesus defied rules against ritual impurity and healed women. Jesus saved a women from being stoned and chastised men who committed adultery. Jesus told women he was the messiah and they gladly accepted the "good news" before men did. Men hated the loss of superiority in 30 AD and there is a subset of men that still refuse to obey God's call to egalitarianism in 2012!
The truth is that YHVH is a tetragrammaton including the feminine, not a male-only trinity. Four letters symbolize the Godhead: Y for Father, H for Mother, V for Son and H for daughter. Jesus was a priest "in the manner of Melchizadek" who acknowledged and honored Mother God as well as Father God. The concept of an all-male trinity was not surprisingly created by men determined to create an all-male priesthood and keep women in secondary status.
Redacted, No Longer! takes the reader through the entire Bible, discussing the female leaders in every book. I've attended Unitarian, Methodist, Lutheran, Baptist, Presbyterian and Catholic churches over the past 25 years and I have never heard these stories about women leaders from the pulpit. "They have been redacted long enough!" I say. It is time we studied the women who said, "Yes, Lord!" and actually meant it. They are so abundant, it is hard to believe male ministers have never found the time or energy to speak of them. We've spent many centuries memorizing the names of the men of the Bible; it seems only fair that we take the next two centuries to memorize the women!
In addition to the 200-page text outlining all of the strong women of the Bible, I have included a play, a book of poetry, and an appendix of artwork that proves the existence of female priests. It's time to stop denigrating your gender by reading Bad Girls of the Bible and revel in the abundant stories that present women who were destined to lead by God instead!
